Kerrville Folk Music Festival 2002

This was my third trip to the Texas hill country but my first to attend the world famous Kerrville music festival. I need not elaborate on the quality of the music cause you can hear for yourself by checking the official web site and watch and listen to the performances courtesy of the festival organizers. It was fantastic to see so many people come together to share this original American art form covering everything from country blues, gospel, bluegrass and authentic Texas country music. Just like the blues cruises I have enjoyed so much in the last few years the festival is more like a tribe or family of people who have made this an annual pilgrimage. If one was to summarize the general atmosphere it was like Woodstock generation of the 60's. At night dozens of campfires dot the hill sides around the main fair grounds and there were hundreds of  colorful tents spread out over 50 acres of some of the most beautiful country in Texas. It was really moving to sit around these campfires and listen to musicians trade licks and share stories till the wee hours of the morning. I have never had so much fun. I'll be back next year!
